Counting Down

So tomorrow is my first real wedding shoot. I emphasize "real" because two years ago I photographed my sister's wedding. The ceremony was super sweet and intimate but I don't think I was entirely prepared =/.

This time around I've done a lot of planning, research and investing. I have a new lighting system, a long list of shots the Bride wants, special handmade props, a plan and back up plan. I'm hoping things run smoothly and more than that I'm hoping for gorgeous images.
Being that it is my first real wedding I know I have to settle within myself that things will probably go wrong. I think the trick is to not let myself be overwhelmed.
Now having said that, I have so much to do!!

When inspiration strikes!

My husband has been on a wonderful romantic kick as of late and two days ago he surprised me with a gorgeous bouquet of roses "just because" (insert envious "awe" here) lol.
So instead of letting them sit gracefully in a vase until time withered them away, I readied my gear and went to work. Here's the result =).

Aubrie doesn't quite share my appreciation of delicate flowers but the petal confetti was just beautiful.

My Brand New Nephew

My beautiful little sister gave birth to her son in July.
He is definitely our little prince!
This shoot was so sweet and my darling niece was so very gentle with her new little brother.
I love love love these kiddos!

I also made a "Big Sis" and "Lil' Bro" shirt & onesie for their homecoming.

Ohhh I'm a horrible blogger..

So much for staying up to date. =/
Well here we are, my sweet Aubrie is nearly 7 months old and proving to be quite the handful! I'm absolutely in love with her and every single day she amazes me. So many things change in these first few months. All the more reason to try to capture and preserve as many memories as possible.

I've had several opportunities arise in the last few weeks and it's enabled me to expand my portfolio a bit. I've also gotten my website up and running finally!

The hubbs has agreed to spring for some new equipment so within the next week or so I will have my very own studio lighting =). Small pieces to begin with; just a couple of strobes and an external flash, but hopefully it will be enough to allow me a little more creative freedom.

I want to take a moment to say that I am truly grateful for the wonderful people in my life who encourage and support me while I'm chasing this dream. My husband has been an incredible optimist and sometimes I think he believes more in me than I do! And my mother has forever been my cheerleader. She's always invested in me and I hope someday that I might be able to show her it was worth it.
